Sexual Assault & Abuse

Does it feel hard to feel anything, pleasure or pain? Does anxiety or distrust dominate your life?

If you’ve been violated sexually that makes so much sense. It can feel almost impossible to go back to feeling like yourself. After all, something big has happened (or happened for a long time) and changed so much of who you thought you were and how you thought the world worked.

It is simply not fair and sucks. It may feel scary and shameful to talk about or hard to even think about, but you know that you are done feeling ruled by your past.

If the idea of reaching out is terrifying…

… let me say I get the feeling of standing on the edge of a cliff. And I want you to know that I will do my best to walk beside you every moment of the leap.

My first promise to you is: I will believe you.

I hear a lot of clients come in and tell horror stories about family members, cops, and doctors who have undermined them, gaslit them, or told them it was all in their head.

Not only will I believe you, but I will trust your healing process and help you to regain trust in yourself.

After you are violated, it can be hard to trust your body’s response as well as your impulses and instincts for safety.

A Path to Freedom

Using mindfulness and body-based techniques, we can support you to recover your connection to your body and your sense of trust in your judgment, all the while moving at whatever pace feels right to you.

When you’re ready, and only when you’re ready, we will start to reprocess your trauma and make sense of the experience.

Using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), we will help you safely process your trauma so that you can leave it in the past.

When trauma is left in the past, it no longer can run your life.

When you are struggling with anxiety and panic, it makes sense that you will start to avoid people and places you used to love.

When you’re using drugs, alcohol, sex, or food to get through the day, you are simply doing the most normal human thing to cope with an incredibly abnormal, inhumane experience.

But there’s a better way. A way that returns you to feeling in control of your life and able to live with more hope and freedom.

Together we can get you from coping back to thriving.
