I’m sick of talking about it!
Are you feeling stuck?
Let’s try something different.
Take a deep breath.
Can you feel your feet on the ground?
Can you feel the beating of your heart?
What does stuck feel like? Is this feeling familiar?
Take another breath in and a loooong breath out.
Notice how you feel when I tell you… it doesn’t have to feel this way.
If you feel like you’ve been talking yourself in circles or are all talked out, somatic experiential therapy could be the best fit for you.
But wait, you might say… “Does that mean you’re a dance therapist? Do I have to like dancing?”
The short answer is NO; no dancing.
We will still talk, and there will be ample space for you to share what’s going on for you.
But there’s no way I’m going to let you come in for ten years and talk about the same stories. That would be a waste of your time and a waste of my time.
We will use your body and heart to bypass the same old stories that are keeping you stuck.
Why are you stuck? Well, 99% of our thoughts are unconscious. 99%!
And those thoughts are driven by an outdated belief system created between ages 0-6 and informed by our traumatic experiences.
Based on our early childhood, we create metaphorical glasses through which we see the world.
If we just talk in therapy, we keep our glasses and let our stories reinforce our beliefs about the world and staying stuck and limited.
When we slow down, play with our experience, and include our body, we can help you break free from whatever patterns, beliefs, or trauma are keeping you stuck.
When we step back and identify your limiting beliefs and metaphorically take OFF your old glasses, we can see more and allow you to access more freedom to be who you want to be, instead of who you have always been.
THAT is experiential, somatic therapy.
Phew, no dancing. So, what does therapy with you look like?
I will support you to INCLUDE the BODY and your present moment experience into your therapeutic work.
Like all of our shadow parts, often our gut and physical wisdom are exiled from our conscious decision-making process. And often our body retains a lot of our subconscious memories and holds onto trauma that our mind has forgotten.
When we include the body, we give you access to more parts of your subconscious, to a wider range of your memories, and to a deeper understanding of who you are.
In my office, all of you is welcome.
I work with all parts: the light and the shadow, the loved and the exiled – your mind, your body, your spirit, your emotions.
I work with all gender identities, expressions of sexuality, races, abilities, nationalities, and religious affiliations. And it is important to me that all of your identity is welcome as well.
Honor your unique life experience and celebrate your self-expression.
Therapy is about co-creation and will only work if you bring your unique self and your commitment to introspection and growth.
Through this process you will contact the obstacles that have been holding you back and redefine your path forward.
